Questionnaire vandalism students We made a questionnaire about vandalism for 4 students. The students are 13, 13, 14 and 15 years old. They all don’t like vandalism and they don’t see vandalism when they are outside. 2 students wouldn’t do anything when they see that someone is destroying something. 1 students would call the police and 1 student will clean it up. We asked how we could stop vandalism, the answers of the students were quite different, 1 student said that we wouldn’t stop vandalism. 1 student said that we need more police to stop graffiti. 1 student said that we have to convince people that when they see that someone is destroying something they can call the police and 1 student said that there should be stricter rules. According to the students the people who destroy things are mostly between 16 and 22 years old. 2 students don’t think there is a difference between girls or boys and 2 students think boys destroy things more than girls. No one know what bureau halt is. The last question was : vandalism has increased in recent years, 3 students think that vandalism has increased in the recent years and 1 student says that it didn’t increased.
Questionnaire vandalism adults We made a questionnaire about vandalism for 4 adults. The parents of Blanchfleur, the mother of Elysa and the mother of Marieke filled in the questionnaire. They don’t like vandalism. 3 parents said that boys destroy the most things, 1 parent don’t know it. They said that people between 11 and 17 years destroy the most things. 1 parent don’t see vandalism often, 1 parent sees vandalism regularly and 2 parents are seeing vandalism often because they work in Rotterdam. When they see that someone is destroying something they all would say something to the person who is destroying something and 1 parent would say something of it or call the police. 3 parents think that the number of people who destroy things has increased and 1 parent think that the number of people didn’t increased or decreased. They all know what bureau halt is and they all think it is good. Their jobs don’t have anything to do with vandalism so we couldn’t ask more about that.
Questionnaire vandalism care taker We made a questionnaire about vandalism for the care taker of our school. The care taker don’t like vandalism. She doesn’t see much vandalism when she is outside. Only bus shelters. When someone is destroying something she would definitely say something about it. She thinks that we can never stop vandalism. She thinks boys at the age of 16 destroy things the most. She knows what bureau halt is and she said that it is really good that it is there. She said that vandalism increased in the recent years. When someone destroys something at school the students have to come to the director with their parents and via the insurance the destroyed thing will be replaced.
Questionnaire vandalism municipality We made a questionnaire about vandalism for someone who works for the municipality. The person who answered the question is a unit leader unit leader of the municipality. We asked first some personal question and then questions. He doesn’t like vandalism, he says that vandalism must be tackled hard. There is no need for vandalism and has no idea why people destroy things. He also said that when people destroy things, they can get a good punishment. When he sees someone who is destroying something he will say something about it. He said : “always imagine myself; what if someone did that to my things? it would also be nice if someone would say something about my things being destroyed”. He thinks that we can stop vandalism to make good punishments and he thinks that vandalism is often because of boredom, then we can take care of no boredom. he thinks that boys between the ages of 14 and 17 commit the most vandalism. He said that we don’t have to forget rioters and bad football supporters, they destroy things too (and they are mostly older). He knows what bureau halt is and he likes it. Now we asked questions that has to do with his job. The number of people that destroy thing increases certainly with corona, people get bored more easily and express that with vandalism. We asked if the most notifications that he gets from vandalism are from boys or girls, he says that that doesn’t matter. When someone sprayed graffiti, the police or enforcement to take a look. After the police or enforcement looked at it, the municipality cleans it, the municipality rents companies to clean it or the owner of the destroyed object will clean it. When the municipality gets notifications of vandalism, the vandalism is mostly committed by people between the age of 14 and 20. When someone commit vandalism is young he/she can go to bureau halt, when the person who destroyed something is old he/she can get a fine and can/have to pay the cost to repair it.
As you can read in the conclusions of the questionnaires, you can read that the students don’t know what bureau halt is and the adults does, while bureau are for people under the age of 18. So bureau is for the students also. This means that if the students would spray graffiti and get caught, they don’t know the consequences. Here below are 2 graphs on the questions : “ do boys or girls destroy things mostly, or is there no difference” and on the question : “would you do something when someone is destroying something ?
Vandalism Vandalism is a purposely destroying and damaging objects, that belong to somebody else or public property. Graffiti is also a kind of vandalism. On New Year's eve there is a lot of vandalism e.g. garbage bins that get destroyed, cars are set on fire, the glace of bus shelters are getting destroyed. There are different types of vandalism. 1. Game vandalism This is more like a accident because it isn't on purpose e.g. when children are playing soccer and a kid accidently kicks in a window. 2.influential vandalism In this type of vandalism peer pressure plays a role, most of the time teenagers do this because they want to be cool. 3. Revenge vandalism in this kind of vandalism usually stems from displeasure and frustration, this type of vandalism is common on schools. 4. Groups vandalism Group vandalism involves a large number of perpetrators and an event that has gotten out of hand, such as a sports match or a concert. There are few inhibitions in the perpetrators because they feel stronger in a mass. They carried away by the group mentality, have often used alcohol and feel that they can easily hide within the group. Football hooliganism is a form of group hooliganism. 5. Boredom vandalism Boredom is a common motif of vandalism. In the absence of any other past time, its destroyed
-graffiti- Graffiti is a kind of vandalism. People are making it with a sprayer, you have different colours of graffiti and also different kinds. You have the (mostly) ugly illegal graffiti, which is on the sides of the highway and at buildings. There is also an artistic way of graffiti which mostly is an job of artists. The artistical way of graffiti could be really beatiful.
Artistic ways of graffiti It is really hard to get rid of graffiti, it is hard for people of the Irado to clean walls with graffiti/vandalism on it. It is easier to remove the graffiti if it is not there for more than 24-48 hours. If it is on your wall for longer than 24-48 hours it is harder to remove the graffiti. In the Netherlands the Irado is removing it when they don’t see you doing it. If they see you while doing graffiti you have to clean it yourself and go to bureau halt (age 12-23) there you will get what you deserve for doing that. If the person who did spray the graffiti is an mystery the Irado will try to get rid of the graffiti and clean it. Mostly if they see you and your under age 23 you have to clean it yourself + do other jobs so you can correct your mistakes. Conclusion:
It is illegal to spray graffiti without permission
If your under the age of 23 you go to Bureau Halt if they spot you spraying.
You will get to do other jobs to correct your mistake
Irado will try to get rid of the graffiti you sprayed
